Package from Kelly

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

I got a package from my good pal and fellow art/design nerd, Kelly Thacker. I met Kelly at Paul Frank years ago. She still works there and makes awesome stuff.

A couple weeks ago I was at Urban Outfitters and I came across a wallet Kelly had designed for the  oh-so-cool Toddland (also an ex pf comrade). I was so excited to see her fun wallet that I took these pics in the store:

I’d mentioned to her I was in need of a laptop sleeve AND that I REALLY liked her wallet and she was nice enough to send me a huge package including both of those things and more!! I even got a note from one of my favorite people/artists ever, Parker Jacobs! You may not know this but most of my style is ripped off from… I mean, “influenced” by Parker.

There was also a sweet zine, put together by PF Art Director, Mike Smith, from an art show that Kelly was in that her co-worker Alex Funderburk curated. Here are a few of my favorite pages:

Talented bunch eh? Thanks so much Kelly!! Way too kind of you.

is on it’s way. i will be revealing some very fun vintage items in the coming weeks, stay tuned!!

online vintage shoppe coming soon

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

for the past 15 years i have been enamored with the things of the past. design, art, books, people, philosophies, fashion, decor, architecture, furniture, cartoons, film, toys, music, product packaging, you name it. i deeply admire how everything was so sleek and simple yet so abundant. resources were constructed with utmost quality and vibrancy before the days of outsourcing.

as a consequence to loving these fine crafted items before my time, i continue  to come home with these one of a kind finds on a very regular basis. to resist these gems seems very unnatural to me. i feel that somehow i need to be apart of  these beauties lives to continue the love they once had. to continue their story in a completely different setting than where and how these  treasures lived before. i even fantasize about how their early lives were lived and with whom, where and when exactly.

in my years of collecting such goods i have had enough to fill up all the houses on my street. it is now (next month, exactly) that i share these valuables with you. my treasures range from paper goods to shoes, accessories for the home and body, and everything in between. most notably, the shoppe will feature choice clothing, books and toys for children.

following the launch of the shoppe i will also provide services as a personal shopper/stylist specializing in vintage finds for those of you that would like to add some va va voom to your wardrobe and your surroundings.

much more information will be available soon. if you have any questions before that, please send them my way. until then.

Thriftin

Monday, October 13th, 2008

I’ve been thrift shopping since I was twelve or thirteen and to this day, when I enter a thrift store, I get the same feeling I used to when I was a kid. The feeling one might get when they find money on the ground. The possibilities of finding amazingness are oh so high. The three of us got to go on Saturday to a Goodwill just out of town. We’re usually not huge fans of Goodwill due to their higher prices. We ended up getting some good stuff. I passed on a lot of good stuff as well. Here are some of the items that didn’t make it into our lives, yet they were good enough to snap a photo of. I’ll have to post pictures of the things we did get soon.

Here are some records with awesome artwork:

Even chami had a blast.
