My buddy Randy Muñiz, who I’ve written about before, asked me if I wanted to make a skull for a mural project that he, and his friend James, are putting together at the Mexic-arte museum. I said, “sure” and then I drew this.

I was pleased with this drawing and proceeded to Ink it up and make it clean, but it was losing all it’s magic. I’ve mentioned before that I am a fan of pencil sketches over the finished black lined drawings. There is something so honest about pencil drawings. So, what I did was just blow up my sketch to 3 feet and painted right over the black and white copy. Here is what that looks like.

Here is a picture of my daughter standing next to Bigote Brown.

Bigote Brown will be wheatpasted on the side of the museum next to the skulls of 6 other artists. Come out to the Viva La Vida Fest, celebrating dia de los muertos, tomorrow in Downtown Austin to check it all out.

I was invited to be a part of The Sex and Death show over at the The Fifth Gallery in downtown Austin. The opening was last night but the work will be up until November 13th when there will be a closing reception.
My favorite piece in the show was by none other than my good buddy, Jeremy Burks. He is what they call “mad talented.”

Here is the drawing I did for the show.

you can view more photos from the opening night and other fabulous art submissions here. Big thank you to John Gomi and the rest of The Fifth Gallery.

If you missed the show this past Friday, Republic of Austin has a good little recap, with photos, right here. It was a great turnout. Thanks to everyone who came out!
Here is a picture I was able to find of the pieces I made for the show.

BIG thanks to Maseman, The Screamer Company, Chris Apollo Lynn, and, again, to everybody that came out.

My buddy Maseman was kind enough to include me into a group show that he and the rest of The Screamer Company are putting together. The show is titled Conversation Piece and will take place on Friday, September 25th from 6-10 pm at The United States Art Authority . Here is the official poster.

I saw some of the other pieces that will be in the show today when I dropped off my pieces and, boy, are they good!
It was so much fun getting some pieces together for this show. Here are some sneak peeks of the work I did.

I hope to see you on the 25th!

Here’s a sailor man I doodled up.

Have I ever told you guys that I dressed up as a gay sailor for Halloween last year? I won the grand prize at work AND I got second place at Mr. Natural’s halloween costume contest.
Here’s picture taken at Domy Books of myself with my beautiful wife and my confused daughter.

Here are some recent drawings, more like doodlings, that I made with pencil and prisma markers and ink and magic… no, not Magic Jonson, the other magic.

That’s some good stuff! Here is the complete list of the other artists participating in the show:

Circus Gold’s own Matthew Briar Bonifacio Rodriguez is the latest artist to participate in the latest Print+Addiction at Industry. Come down tonight from 7-10pm and have a beer and get a t-shirt printed with some of Matthew’s artwork. He also has painted a couple walls just for your eyeballs. Envy has some more info.

Have you heard of Matt the Electrician before? He’s an electrician turned singer/songwriter/genius and he is pretty awesome (his wife Kathie is pretty rad too) . Matt hired me to make him a fun t-shirt to go along with his latest, freshest sound that he could sell while he’s touring the west coast. Here is what I came up with:
I printed these on un-wrinkled silver American Apparel tees but printed an extra one for myself on a green, wrinkly, shirt.
Be sure to check Matt out on tour and pick up a shirt while your at it.
