Lombardi/Screamer December 4th in Austin

Hello gang, this Thursday night don’t miss the grand Christmas Expo Group Art Show at Gallery Lombardi from 7pm-10pm. Go and pick up some great artwork at discounted prices (once the work is purchased it goes home with the buyer). I have a couple pieces in the show that may look a little familiar.

Also Thursday night is the release of Three (which I am also in). What is Three you ask? Here is Mason of The Screamer Company to explain it:

MASON – “The Screamer Company invites you to celebrate the launch of our newest publication – THREE. Come to our office First Thursday, December 4th, 6 – 10 PM to pick up your copy. Orf Brewing will be sponsoring the party and we’ll have live music and art for your enjoyment.”

And here I though three was just a number between two and four.

Who is Matthew Rodriguez?

He was very friendly early on in our transition from California to Austin. Matthew has quickly become one of my favorite artists and favorite people altogether. He makes awesome artwork and is arguably one of the biggest artists coming out of Texas. All of you people living on the west coast should stop by and say hello and take your friends and take him a tall boy of sparks and ask him about Africahhhh. He’s basically my brother from another mother.

Monster Show 3

This Friday, Halloween night from 7pm-9pm, I’ll be showing a couple drawings in both the Austin and Houston locations of Domy Books for their 3rd ever Monster Show. Swing by and check out some spooky drawings and some killer books. My friends Matthew Rodriguez and Zach McDonald will also be showing some pieces. A lot of fun will be had so don’t miss it!!

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post anything on here. We’ve been pretty busy lately. Flipping through my sketch book I realized that there are a few drawings I wanted to share with you all. So without further ado, I present to you a few recent drawings.

Weekend art show recap (late)

Last Saturday, June 28th, the family and I loaded up into the car and headed for East Austin where we were lucky enough to catch 2 great art shows. The first was at Okay Mountain where they were having a fund-raising event. There was a silent auction with a lot of good art up for grabs. Some art they were selling at very affordable prices, steals even. I was lucky enough to meet Michael Sieben and pick up one of many limited edition screen prints he and Nat Swope collaborated on recently. Sieben, an Austin artist, has quickly become one of my favorites. You can buy his work right here.

Also we won a gift bag filled with random oddities. The strangest gift had to be the filter mask with the twin towers on the packaging. Kind of creepy. Also since moving from California about a year ago we’ve grown accustomed to sinking our beers into koozies (or “cozies”) before drinking them because Texas is hot, which makes you hot, which makes your beer hot, and koozies keep your beer cold. We actually won 3 total meaning Giselle and Chamila got one too. Chamila also won an origami set.

After hanging out a while and playing ping pong with chamila and the missus. We headed over to Pump Project. They were having a show called Size Matters. Every piece in the show measured 5×7 feet. There was some really good work here as well. The most impressive piece was by Zach McDonald. He too is an Austin artist and a super nice guy. I wish I had taken my camera because I don’t have a picture to post. However, you can see some of his work here.
