PRINT+ADDICTION presents: NICE TRY

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

My good pal Ryan Rhodes and I are currently working on an art show/print party we will be having at Industry Print Shop THIS Friday from 6-9pm. We are calling the show “Nice Try.”

These parties are always so much fun. Nice Try will be especially radical for a number of reasons… get your fingers out and lets go over them. You will be able to drink free beer, groove to sultry soul sounds by the great “DJ Gibb, buy T-shirts to customize with our designs, buy affordable artwork we are working on right now, AND you’ll be able to laugh at us…. right in front of us.

You can see more details and reserve a free shirt here.

Here are a couple of glimpses into us hard at work.

New work

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Howdy people! Soooo, below are a couple things I wanted to share with you all. They are recent works I’ve made. Enjoy….

Tomorrow night at the United States Art Authority, No Comply’s Second Annual Board Design Contest will be taking place put on by Art Seen Alliance and of course, No Comply. I’ve seen a few entrees from a couple pals and I gotta say, I have been blown away by them. Here are my two submissions for the contest.

Here is something I submitted for The Screamer Company’s latest art zine titled “FOUR.” The release party for FOUR will take place on July 31 at TSC headquarters.

Lastly, a while back I designed an album cover for the Hope Campaign’s tribute album. Well that album is out now and you can view the tracks and purchase it here. Below are a couple pictures of the design.

Well, I’m outta here. I hope you all have a great weekend!

New Bike/Drawing/Far Away Daughter

Friday, June 18th, 2010

My pal Randy recently gave me this old fuji bike frame.

With the help of my other pal, and studiomate Renee AND the fine people at Fast Folks, I was able to turn this old beat up bike into a pretty sweet machine!!

I am now addicted to riding a bike!

Here is a drawing I made recently. I made it using sharpie and Prisma pencils on paper. I may or may not have been heavily influenced by my friend Jillian’s recent drawings that include a ton of prisma pencils.

Lastly my family is still in California and Sunday is father’s day =(  This means I’ll especially be missing my little peanut like crazy. Here is a recent picture that Giselle took of Chamila playing at a park.

FRIDAY ART: Get swell mon

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Hi there. It’s been a little while. My family recently went to California so that is giving me a lot of “me” time. After uncontrollable weeping for the first few days I have managed to stop my waterworks and make a few things. Here is a new graphic I conjured up to try to get people to not have such a shitty time here on earth.

Here is another drawing I made recently. Actually, I made it this morning at about 4am with my good ol’ lumber crayon.

Also, Giselle set up a small mini store within the new and improved Moxie on East 11th Street. The grand opening is tomorrow from 11am to 6pm. Make sure to check it out.

Also, tonight at Industry Print Shop the amazing Jared Connor of Mexican Chocolate will have a poster show/live printing event. You all should go to that.

Let’s see what else…. Oh yes, I miss this little creature so, SO bad.

Have a great weekend and stay swell my friends.

Jeremy Fish + Austin

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Jeremy Fish is an amazing illustrator/artist that is currently on a mobile art tour he is calling “The Road Less Traveled.” About a week ago he came to Austin to make a 21-color screen print with my heroes, The Decoder Ring that pretty much took ONE WEEK. The print is finished and you can view and purchase it here. He also came to town to set up a one-night art show at Okay Moutain Gallery. That night is tonight. Don’t miss it.

On a super nerdy side note – Jeremy was recently at OKMT Studios and though I didn’t meet him, our vehicles got to spend some time together. How rad is that van!?!

Friday Art: TOMS Shoe Paint-off

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Here are some pictures from the event today. I painted 20 pairs. Yay.

Art & Sole

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I will be at Tyler’s on the drag Friday from 12-5pm doodling on TOMS shoes. This is a big deal… I know it’s a big deal because I will have cards to hand out with my name and a short bio printed on them. That’s a pretty big deal right? My buddies Maseman and Will “Mr. Fancy Pants” Bryant will be hanging out drawing on shoes as well. Should be fun.

FRIDAY ART: Love/Haiti

Friday, February 12th, 2010

I made a new little painting for tonight’s love/haiti event at Mosaic. Here’s what that looks like.

There will be a lot of neat items from local businesses and artists in the silent auction including: The Decoder Ring Design Concern, Johnson’s Backyard Garden, The Good Shoppe and artists including but not limited to: Penny Van Horn, David Clark, and Corinne Loperfido. For a more complete list of contributors click here. All proceeds benefit world vision’s relief work in Haiti.

NEW(S)

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Happy new year everybody! There is some new stuff going on around here lately. First off, you may have noticed, we updated the theme here on our blog. It really is nothing fancy. It’s actually the default wordpress theme, called Kubrick, with a fun header I designed featuring our new logo, but I like it. Less is more, right? I’m also, excited that comments should now be working again. The last theme disabled comments for some reason and I was just never nerdy enough to figure out why. Somebody please comment on here so I know comments are working again.

Also new this year is our new store hosted by BigCartel. We’ll be updating our ol’ Etsy store with the same items for those of you that like to hang out over there. I’ll be posting different things in the stores real soon aside from tees, like drawings, zines, etc… eh, hopefully.

What I’m most excited about for this new year is my new art studio. It’s run by the fine folks at Okay Mountain. It’s right around the corner from home. I plan on being there daily, though this first week back from the long, laaaazy break was a little more demanding than I had hoped, stifling my chances to be studio bound daily. I did make it down there one evening to organize some materials, coat some panels, and draw these dudes.

sharpie and spray paint on yellow pages.

So far we’re off to a great start to a new year over here at casa Muñoz. Here’s a new year and lots of drawing, making, and loving.

Cheers.
