Recently wife picked up a little nash board for daughter at a thrift store.
The size was perfect but the graphic on the back was not so perfect.
I asked daughter what she wanted me to paint on her board in place of the not-so-cool graphic and she told me “A pupcake and a horse.”
She helped me strip the back of the old graphic.
Then I sketched it out.
And voila. Pictures of daughter riding it to follow.

I made a new little painting for tonight’s love/haiti event at Mosaic. Here’s what that looks like.
There will be a lot of neat items from local businesses and artists in the silent auction including: The Decoder Ring Design Concern, Johnson’s Backyard Garden, The Good Shoppe and artists including but not limited to: Penny Van Horn, David Clark, and Corinne Loperfido. I will be showing some art in 2 venues this weekend. Tonight from 6 to 10pm is the opening of Mexic-Arte Museum’s Mix N Mash show which I made a super new and fun piece for. Tickets are $25 and my buddies James Huizar, Randy Muniz, and Tony Diaz will also have pieces in this show. Nothing but 12×12 inch panels here. Tomorrow the Maranda Pleasant Gallery will be holding their annual 12×12 box show with every piece priced at $100 . Some of the proceeds will go to Explore Austin. There is no cover for this exhibit and you can even go before the madness from 10am to 6pm to do some early purchasing. The party is from 6pm to 10pm. A few friends will be showing work here as well including: Jeremy Burks, Will Bryant, and Zach McDonald. Apparently 25 pieces have already sold! So go, go, GOOOO!

My wife and daughter headed back to california at the end of June to visit with family and friends. Oh boy, how I miss them. I will be flying out to california on the 17th for a weekend and then we all come back together. Wow, the 17th, that seems so far away. I’ve been talking to them daily and everytime I hear Chamila’s voice it sounds so much different and older than the time before. I also miss Giselle’s good cooking. Though she wouldn’t admit it, she gets pretty crafty in the kitchen. Here is a sample of what I have been fixing up to eat. Even my food misses the girls.
I did get to eat some really good Texas BBQ this past weekend, with my brother Bryan and his family, at Black’s in Lockhart which is about 30 minutes from Austin. Afterwards we went to a nearby park to skate and let my nieces run around.

To try to keep my mind off me ladies I have been keeping busy by working on fun stuff. Here is some of that fun stuff.
I was commissioned to redo the JUAN Lennon piece. I’m much happier with these results. Here’s a detail of the lettering. My favorite part about working with paint so much lately is how steady my hand is becoming. It’s tons better than it used to be.
This is one of the many nicknames we call our daughter. I’ve been really into sign painting and hand drawn lettering lately, so I decided to make her this painting. I’m just about done with it. Enjoy.
